Eastern Illinois University invites applications and implementations candidature for the position of Dean of the College of Arts and humanities. Humanities comprises 225 faculty members in nine departments academic representative Arts (Art, music, Performing Arts and the Humanities (English, Communication, study languages foreign, journalism history, philosophy) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for global diversity (African-American studies, Asian studies, Latin American Studies, women's studies) and Tarble, Arts Centre
a major cultural arts resource serving East-Central Illinois. College enrolled approximately 1800 majors and awarded 460 degrees in AY 2008 - 2009. The College of Arts and Sciences human Dean suite is housed in the newly renovated and expanded Doudna Fine Arts Center, architectural landmark latest University of Illinois, designed by world-renowned architect Antoine Predock, winner of the 2006 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement and gold medal 2007 Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum for its achievement in Design

Responsibilities
Dean's responsibilities include:
Articulate a clear vision for the College and provide strong leadership to realize the vision
Provide leadership to help college units in the realization of the possibilities of "learning" integrative in all degree programmes, through which students are intentionally encouraged to think about the connections between their curriculum and their personal experiences and the development.
Encourage creativity, innovation, scholarships and faculty interaction
Promote an environment in which excellence and creativity is fostered among students and teachers.
Manage quality and future directions of undergraduate and graduate programs
Provide administrative leadership qualified in order to facilitate decision-making at all levels of the College
Run a responsible budget planning and tax management
Forging strong partnerships and collaborative relationships with off-campus local and regional exchanges in the arts and humanities.
Participate actively in public, private and corporate development activities and the efforts of extramural funding for College.
Promote a positive environment for staff, faculty and students.
Promote diversity among faculty, staff and students.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must hold at the appropriate one of the disciplines a terminal degree at College with teaching, research/scholarly/creative achievement and service corresponding to tenured faculty appointment in one of the academic units in the College and demonstrate:
Administrative and budgetary experience significant within a framework of higher education at the level of head of Department, Director or other administrative level positions
Proven leadership capacity including the ability to deal effectively with a diverse and broad constituencies range and skills necessary to lead a dynamic University College
The ability to foster and promote programs and activities of school districts on and off-campus
Commitment to innovative and undergraduate education
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Commitment to promote diversity and equality of opportunities for members of minority groups and women

Departure date
July 1, 2010.

Pay scale
Salary is competitive and corresponding to qualifications.
